Must-have components every business needs to have on their cards

Have you ever wondered if your business cards are doing their job?

Or, if you’re looking to have some creative business cards designed, have you stopped to consider what you should have on them?

You’d be surprised how many times I see business card designs that are missing components that are super beneficial, especially when it comes to connecting with new clients and growing your online reach.

Business cards have a job to do and it’s keeping you at the forefront of clients’ minds and making it really easy for them to contact or connect with you.

You may be tempted to turn to an online printer or use a DIY website to customize business cards, but often these ready-made templates are lacking.  Either they don’t include important details or once they arrive they lack a quality feel and look. Most people will be able to identify a poor quality business card when they see one.  The color might be faded, the paper might not be as thick as necessary, and the printing may be off.

Your business deserves unique business cards that stand out from the crown AND have the right components, so your clients can find you everywhere you are.

Let’s talk about what you need to have.

6 Important Business Card Components

A business should have the (1) person's name and (2) title on top of the card. It is important to make sure that the name is more prominent than the title. This can be done through the use of color or text attributes such as bold or italic.

The next three should be located below the name and title. The (4) phone and/or fax, (5) email and (6) website are all important contact information. These items can be designed with or without the call-outs (i.e. web:) depending on your preference.

Next is the social media handles. These do not need to be on your business card, but if you have social media then you should include these in your business card design. The above diagram shows the social media handles next to the icon of each social media platform. This is a great way to organize and break up a lot of text on your business card.

Small business are often looking for the best business cards at the best price as quickly as possible, but businesses that understand the value of a proper business card know that there’s a lot more than just a logo, color, and some contact information that goes into designing a business card that works.

If you’d like to revamp your business cards or are just starting your business, I’d love to help you design some quality business cards that leave a lasting impression.
